Declutter Privacy Policy

Effective October 10, 2026. Applies to the Declutter Android app (package com.joncode.declutter).

The short version

Declutter does not collect, store, transmit or sell any personal data. Everything the app does happens on your phone.

What the app accesses, and why

Photos and videos. Declutter reads your photo and video library to find duplicates, similar shots, blurry photos, screenshots and large files, and to delete the ones you choose. The app reads thumbnails and file details only on the device. No photo, thumbnail, caption or file name ever leaves your phone.

On-device AI. Smart Search describes your photos using Gemini Nano, a model that runs inside Android's AICore on your phone. The descriptions are stored in the app's private storage on your device and are deleted when you uninstall the app. Nothing is sent to us or to any server for this feature.

Notifications. The app can show a progress notification while it scans. You can turn this off in system settings at any time.

Internet. The app uses the network for two things only: Google Play Billing, when you choose to buy a subscription, and the one-time download of the on-device AI model by Android's AICore. Declutter has no servers of its own.

Purchases

Subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed by Google Play. We receive no payment details. Google's handling of that data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.

Data we collect

None. Declutter contains no analytics, no advertising SDK, no crash reporter and no account system.

Children

Declutter is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes
